Handball Five is a game with many of its own rules and others similar to the Olympic sports handball. The main rules and differences are detailed below.

- Smaller court, dimensions of a basketball court (28.7 x 15.2 m/94ft by 50ft). The crease or 6 meter area is delineated by a semicircle, with a radius of six meters measured from the center of the goal.
- Reduction in the number of players. Handball 5 will be played with 1 goalkeeper, 3 backs (left back, central back, right back) and 1 pivot. - Ball: same ball size as indoor handball. - Reduction in the number of bounces with the ball, only 2 bounces allowed. Encouraging the fast passing of the ball between players. - The ball will go to the outside only when it hits out of bounds or if the player who touches it is outside of the court. While in the air, the ball may go out of the court, but if a player manages to return into the court without either the ball or the player touching the outside of the court, the ball remains in play. - The restart of the game after a goal will be made from the goal. - The crease or 6 meter area will be a semicircle of 6 meters in diameter counted from the midpoint of the goal. - There will be no penalty of “2 minutes” of suspension. These fouls will be punished with two attacks and will be fulfilled after the sanctioned player's team makes two attacks. There will not be two players sanctioned at the same time. In cases where two players deserve to be excluded during the same period of two attacks, the second offender must be replaced and will serve his sanction at the end of the first sanction. - Professional Games will be played in four quarters of 12 minutes. With short breaks of 2 minutes between periods, and a long rest at the end of the second period of 10 minutes. In its amateur version, the times can be modified. - Offside: No goal will be allowed when the player who throws the ball towards the goal has not passed the halfway line of the court. Only the last 10 seconds of each quarter will be considered an exception to this rule. - Referee: Amateur games may be played with a single referee. Clarification: During the course of the first months of competitions some of these rules will be modified and adapted based on the decision of the majority of the participating team leaders. |
